IS ABORTION SAFE?

Abortion may cause pain and discomfort, but we take all the necessary precautions to reduce discomfort. We provide nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, to help you relax during the session. You may also take 800mg of Ibuprofen before your session to reduce cramping sensations during or after the procedure. However, you should avoid aspirin.
If you opt for nitrous oxide sedation, you’ll have to hold the mouthpiece to your mouth and breathe the gas under our staff member’s supervision. The laughing gas will make you feel a little light-headed and alleviate your anxieties. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off within 3 minutes of breathing regular air, so you can drive yourself back home.
THE ABORTION PILL VS. THE MORNING-AFTER PILL
The Abortion Pill can terminate a pregnancy during the first 11 weeks. The Morning-After Pill, also known as Plan B, is an emergency contraception pill that prevents pregnancy up to five days after unprotected sex. You should ideally take Plan B as soon after sexual intercourse as possible to minimize the risk of pregnancy.
In-Clinic Abortion at HealthQ
During the in-clinic abortion at our center serving all of Boston, the physician will insert a thin tube (cannula) inside the uterus and use gentle suction force to terminate the pregnancy. You can opt for nitrous oxide sedation to alleviate your mental anxieties and discomfort. The entire process concludes within 10 minutes, but you may spend up to 3 hours at the medical office. The nitrous oxide wears off within 3 minutes, so you can drive yourself back home.
