After you and one of our expertly trained birth control providers decide that Nexplanon is right for you, we’ll gather your medical info, give you a quick exam, numb a very small area of your upper non-dominant arm, and then insert the implant right beneath your skin. Quick as a flash, you’re done!*
If the implant is administered during the first five days of your period, you’re protected from pregnancy right from the moment you leave our parking lot. However, if it’s administered at any point during the rest of the month, you must use a back-up method of birth control for at least one week after insertion. Suitable methods could include a condom, sponge, diaphragm, or “morning after” contraception.
When you want to stop using Nexplanon, it’s removed with a very quick, simple, and similar in-office procedure. Your body should return to its “fertile state” instantly. If you had it removed because you’d like to have a baby, you’re ready! If you had it removed for any other reason, protect yourself with another method of reliable birth control immediately.
